Fire Door Safety Week 2020

Fire Door Safety Week has started!

At Humphrey & Stretton plc have pledged their support for Fire Door Safety Week for another year we continue to manufacture quality fire doors for Schools, Hospitals, Highrise buildings and more.

This year has thrown many challenges worldwide. At start of the COVID-19 pandemic we made a prompt decision to remain open as councils and customers were approaching us showing the urgency for our doors. We priortised all NHS and hospital related work to ensure our wards could be opened on time ready to accept patients in need. Without our Fire Doors and other essential supplies from industries nationwide these wards wouldn’t be safe to open.

REMEMBER!

  1. NEVER KEEP FIRE DOORS OPEN
  2. ENSURE ALL SEALS AND CLOSERS ARE IN PLACE
  3. WHEN CLOSED THERE ARE NO GAPS LARGER THAN 4MM
  4. FIRE DOORS SHOULD ALWAYS BE MANUFACTURED & INSTALLED WITH THE CORRECT CERTIFICATION

Why are Fire Doors so important?

Fire Doors are increasingly showing their importance. All to often we hear about large fires completely destroying anything in it’s path. A since the Grenfell disaster there has been an increase in demand for Fire Doors. A Fire Door acts as a safe barrier between you and the fire.  Through out Fire Door Test in 2019 you can see the difference between the exposed side and safe side of the door, it will keep you safe for the fire rated time giving the Fire Service more time to get to you. Fire Doors should be kept shut and not kept open.

Can I buy Fire Doors for a home?

Safety should never be limited to a company or public building. Now we can offer Fire Doors that look stylish and have previously been installed in high-end residential buildings. We have our Veneered finish or with our SoftTouch™ Range you can have a leather faced door perfect for a high-end finish protecting you and your family from fire.
